And now for something completely different

Ryden is one of the largest independent commercial property consultants headquartered in Scotland. We have 40 Partners and 100 staff across six offices in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London and Manchester.

Our planning team brings exceptional experience, expertise and insight to all projects. We are strategic thinkers and are experienced in shaping the narratives which can be of key importance to many projects. We see the bigger picture, delivering real value for both client and community.

We advise on a full range of projects, large or small, and specialise in large-scale, complex, and sensitive projects in both urban and rural areas.

We advise commercial developers and investors across all sectors. This includes all forms of residential, retail, leisure, hotel, office, and industrial developments as well as specialist sectors including energy, recycling, and waste.

We are proud of the good relationships we have developed over many years with key decision-makers in local planning authorities, government, and national agencies.

The planning team also works with our market-leading research, agency and investment surveyors, as well as our building consultants, project managers and valuation experts.

Ryden can be employed by the public sector in Scotland through the Crown Commercial Service under the Estates Professional Services Framework RM3816.

We provide the following services:

  • Development Advice: identify sites and resolve planning issues associated with new development to ensure clients achieve their objectives.
  • Planning Representations, Applications and Appeals: prepare Development Plan representations and objections as part of a co-ordinated strategy to promote sites for development. Prepare, submit and manage planning applications and any subsequent appeals. Negotiate conditions and developer contributions.
  • Development Briefs and Masterplans: prepare and negotiate planning briefs, development frameworks and masterplans to maximise development opportunities and enhance land value.
  • Economic Development, Urban Expansion and Regeneration: undertake economic impact assessments, retail impact assessments and provide general market analysis and advice.
