Operating, predominantly, throughout the south east of England, typical projects include:

Residential

Promotion of development sites through the Development Plan system, including the allocation of land for housing development in Local and Neighbourhood Plans, planning applications for housing schemes, conversion and redevelopment of former commercial sites, mixed use commercial and residential schemes and numerous infill sites and redevelopment schemes.. Preparation of Appeal Statements, submission of planning appeals, participation at Appeal Hearings and acting as planning witness for Public Inquiries. We also have experience of acting as Expert Witness on planning matters for High Court cases.

Commercial

Advice on the development of strategic commercial sites, development and extension of new industrial and commercial estates, relocation of company headquarters, extension of offices and industrial units and extension of hotels and conference and training centres. Promotion of commercial sites through Local Plans and Neighbourhood Plans.

Rural

Submission of planning applications for rural diversification for a variety of different uses. Provision of strategic advice to major rural estates; planning for the re-use of farm buildings for both commercial and residential uses including Class Q applications, major equestrian development applications, new agricultural buildings (including developments related to viticulture), replacement dwellings, agricultural workers dwellings and various tourism and leisure-related developments.

Education

Major new sports, education and boarding house developments at a number of public schools as well as projects for major new academic buildings, residences and supporting infrastructure for the University of Sussex and support for long term strategic development of its campus.

Public Sector

Major public sector developments for a number of local authorities including new build sports facilities, education buildings, a crematorium, car parking facilities, cultural and tourism facilities, and refurbishment of listed public buildings. Advice to local planning authorities on the development of planning policy and strategy and provision of support to local authority planning departments for development plan preparation. Preparation of appeal statements and specialist planning documentation for all types of appeal including Public Inquiries.

Renewable Energy

Planning permissions for ground-based solar farm projects for one of the leading developers of large-scale solar PV in the UK. We also advise on wind turbine and anaerobic digestion plant schemes.

Heritage

The practice has significant expertise dealing with listed buildings, scheduled ancient monuments, conservation areas, historic farmsteads, registered parks and gardens and locally listed buildings.

Permitted Development
