The Planning and Environment Studio Ltd. (PES) provides professional planning services, advice and support to businesses, local authorities, public bodies, community groups and individuals. We provide ‘local’ advice in relation to specific planning proposals, but also supply planning support services and undertake major planning study commissions.

PES operates across the UK, although being centrally located in Derbyshire enables us to provide accessible services across the midlands and northern England in particular.

Graham Bradford MRTPI, Director of PES, established the company in 2011 building upon over 21 years of previous professional experience within local planning authority and planning consultancy employment. Graham’s broad experience in national consultancy work has been a vital element in achieving PES’s considerable success and securing satisfaction across our varied client base.

PES offers a range of generalist planning consultancy services in relation to all aspects of the Town and Country Planning system, including:

  • Representation in relation to Planning Application work;
  • Appeals, Hearings and Public Inquiry representation;
  • Planning/site feasibility studies;
  • Third party (objector) representation;
  • Enforcement issues advice;
  • Influencing policy and allocations (Local and Neighbourhood Plans);
  • Site promotion in development plans.

PES seeks to provide sound and effective professional services appropriate to the client’s needs and in doing so we always seek to communicate with clients in a way that reflects their relative familiarity with the issues and processes at stake. PES will always seek to provide clear and impartial advice that allows the client to fully understand the relative costs and benefits of engagement within the planning system.

PES also provides more specialist services in relation to supporting local authorities’ work and undertaking environmental planning, research, evidence base studies and related training, such as:

  • Landscape Character Assessment, Landscape Capacity Assessment and landscape policy;
  • Settlement Capacity Studies;
  • Green Belt reviews;
  • Green Infrastructure studies and open space assessments;
  • Strategic Environmental Assessment and Sustainability Appraisal;
  • Environmental Impact Assessment;
  • Planning and environmental issues training and lecturing;
  • Geographic Information System (GIS) services and mapping.

Where a strong multi-disciplinary approach is needed PES works successfully with other specialist consultancies.
