Mrs Mary Campbell BA (Dual Hons) BTP MRTPI  [ E-mail ]

Mary joined the practice in February 2011 and was made Planning Director in 2014. She graduated from Sheffield University with a dual honours degree in Geography and Geology and subsequently from Manchester University where she gained a degree in Town and Country Planning in 1979. Prior to joining Stephenson Halliday, Mary headed up the northern planning team at Entec (now Amec), based in Newcastle. Mary has significant experience in the public, private and educational sectors, including 12 years with Northumberland County Council and 4 years as researcher / lecturer at Newcastle University.

Focusing mainly on minerals, waste, energy and infrastructure projects, her areas of expertise include site selection and planning feasibility, project management, design advice, Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Statements, planning assessments and public consultation. She has experience and knowledge of both the English and Scottish planning systems and has promoted sites through the development plan system on behalf of clients.

Through her work with the South Tyne and Wear Waste Management Partnership, Mary has detailed experience of PFI procurement of waste management facilities.

Mr Kenneth Halliday BSc, MPhil, CMLI  [ E-mail ]

Ken is a founding partner of the practice. He graduated from St Andrews University and obtained a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from University of Edinburgh in 1987.

He was formerly Head of Landscape Planning with SGS Environmental a multi disciplinary practice with 8 offices throughout the UK, prior to joining Stephens Stephenson as Associate in 1996. Ken has been responsible for leading and co-ordinating the environmental assessments of many large scale development projects, including minerals, waste disposal, transportation and renewable energy. This work frequently involves the application of advanced computer modelling to assist in 3D visualisation and visibility analysis. He has particular expertise in the environmental assessment of wind energy projects, having undertaken the landscape and visual assessment of some 30 proposed sites throughout the UK.

Nick joined the practice in February 2004. He graduated from Dundee University with an Honours Degree in Town and Regional Planning. Nick was previously Senior Planning Officer at Cumbria County Council in their Minerals and Waste Team. Since joining Stephenson Halliday Nick has been responsible for leading and coordinating the environmental assessments of a number of large development projects, including minerals and renewable energy.
