Ryden is the largest independent commercial property consultancy in Scotland and the North of England. We have 34 Partners and over 110 staff across five offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Leeds and Dundee.

Ryden’s Planning and Research team specialises in providing town planning advice and property market research across a range of sectors and can draw on the experience of our agency, development and valuation teams to provide clients with comprehensive property advice.

Our clients include property and land owners, occupiers, housebuilders, developers, retailers, investors, universities, health trusts, local authorities and the Scottish Government.

Ryden can be employed by the public sector in Scotland through the Government Procurement Service (GPS) as a member of the Regional Agent Partnership which has a place on the Estates Framework.

Ryden provides the following advice:

  • Development Advice: identify sites and resolve planning issues associated with new development to ensure clients achieve their objectives.

  • Planning Representations, Applications and Appeals: prepare Development Plan representations and objections as part of a co-ordinated strategy to promote sites for development. Prepare, submit and manage planning applications and any subsequent appeals. Negotiate conditions and developer contributions.

  • Development Briefs and Masterplans: prepare and negotiate planning briefs, development frameworks and masterplans to maximise development opportunities and enhance land value.

  • Economic Development, Urban Expansion and Regeneration: undertake economic impact assessments, retail impact assessments and provide general market analysis and advice.

  • Expert Witness: act as witnesses on a range of issues at examinations in public, hearings and appeals on behalf of private and public sector clients.

  • Feasibility Studies and Option Appraisals: assess values, risks and returns, combining skills in planning, economics and valuation.

  • Property Market Research: provide local, regional and national market studies/forecasts and in-depth analysis of supply and demand across all commercial property sectors.
