Stephen is highly experienced in team working. He considers others’ viewpoints and understands their objectives and constraints, but will present his case clearly, analyse differences and find logical solutions. He is a vegetation specialist with a background in land reclamation, mineral workings and waste sites. Highways projects, from design to long-term management stages, have been a focus of his work for the last 20 years. He has experience as Environmental Co-ordinator and Expert Witness, giving evidence at Public Inquiry and in court. He is a hands-on manager of projects, undertaking EIA and feasibility studies for highways, mineral extraction and quarry filling projects, preparing planning applications and gaining NRW licences for the use of waste materials. He has worked closely with Engineers and related disciplines throughout his career, and is skilled in bringing together their inputs with those of environmental team members. He briefs a wide range of technical specialists and interprets their work to produce comprehensive and integrated reports, and debates the issues with consultees, regulators and objectors.
Shân's interest in the town and country planning process began during her first degree, and she subsequently qualified with a Masters in Civic Design from Liverpool University. The majority of Shân's professional life as a Chartered Planner for over 20 years has been in local authority planning work, where she has dealt with a wide range of clients and project proposals as well as the production of guidance documents. Shân is fully bilingual, and had her upbringing on a working farm in North Wales. She currently lives on a working farm and has other small business interests and hobbies locally.

Ivor Richards OBE is chairman and managing director of Richards Moorehead and Laing Ltd. Ivor is a freeman of the City of London and has been a member of the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators since 1994. He was Master of the Company in 2013 and was able to develop links with many of the other livery companies that have an interest in water usage and environmental matters. The worshipful company promotes ‘The development and advancement of the science art and practice of water and environmental management’. As a trustee of the Water Conservation Trust, Ivor is involved in supporting postgraduate education at a number of universities as well as work in schools.
In October 1966 Ivor was directly involved in the recovery work following the Aberfan disaster and this event has dominated his engineering career.
After spending 11 years working in the public sector for water undertakings Ivor joined an engineering consultancy in 1972 that was engaged principally in the clearance and development of derelict land. In the 1970s Ivor began developing a multi-disciplined approach to civil engineering projects. In 1984 Ivor established Richards Moorehead and Laing Ltd. as a multidisciplined company that would combine engineering environmental and landscape work. Ivor has always sought work in niche markets; areas where RML’s existing knowledge could be put to different, interesting and profitable uses. In recent years Ivor has established design and build companies that put the company’s technical knowledge into practice. Ivor sees this as a route by which professional people can gain great satisfaction from the ownership of projects.
