Mr Alastair Crowdy MRTPI  [ E-mail ]

Alastair is a Main Board Director and National Head of Development Group. He specialises in strategic development projects throughout the UK. Alastair acts on behalf of both private and public sector clients, whom he advises on land-use strategies, regeneration and strategic planning.

Tony has eighteen years’ experience as a professional planner with the last twelve years spent in consultancy. Tony is an experienced expert witness having acted on behalf of clients at major planning inquires and examinations in public. He specialises in providing advice to clients on all forms of residential development.

Mr Ian Shrubsall RICS  [ E-mail ]

A residential development and DCO infrastructure planning expert. Ian’s core skill is as a development planning expert, with 25 years’ experience. He is equally adept as a negotiator, in consultations, and as an Inquiry and Court Expert Witness. Ian has been an Expert Witness in 23 Inquiries and Hearings, and 6 High Court cases. Ian is one of the UK’s leading experts on infrastructure planning and DCO applications, having been the first planning consultant involved in the new system. Ian is also a leading aviation planning expert, including planning consents for new hangars, removing flight restrictions and expert witness in 2 Airport Appeal inquiries and a High Court Case, all of which were successful.

Ms Giulia Bunting BSc DipTP MSc MRTPI  [ E-mail ]

Giulia joined GL Hearn as Planning Director and Main Board Director in January 2011. She is one of the UK’s leading planning consultants with over 30 years’ experience of influencing and delivering some of the UK's largest urban regeneration projects. Giulia sits on the British Property Federation’s Regeneration and Development Committee and is an elected member of the BCSC Advisory Panel and the New London Architecture Sounding Board. She has recently been asked to join the Government supported Distressed Retail Property Taskforce.

Mr Graeme Tulley BA (Hons) MSc (Econ) Dip TP MRTPI  [ E-mail ]

Graeme has 30 years’ experience in Planning, Development and Regeneration and is Head of Development and Regeneration at GL Hearn. Graeme is member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, the British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC) and the British Property Federation’s regeneration and planning committees (BPF). He is past Chairman and Member of the Partnership for Rejuvenation of Maidenhead – a local area partnership of public and private sectors. He is a frequent public speaker and expert witness on planning, compulsory purchase, town centre and regeneration matters. Graeme’s specialist area is the planning, development and delivery of major mixed use town centre and area wide regeneration projects, where he is one of the UK’s leading advisors to both private and public sectors.

Mr Shaun Andrews BSc (Hons), DipUP, MRTPI  [ E-mail ]

Shaun heads up the specialist Investor & Developer Planning team. He has 20 years’ experience of advising both private and public sector clients on major projects throughout the UK and mainland Europe. The Investor & Developer Planning team is highly regarded and is dedicated to the specific needs of this section of the property industry. By integrating our full range of development enabling services, the team’s capability extends far beyond that of the traditional planning consultant.
GL Hearn have recently advised on almost half of the top 20 developers as ranked by Property Data (by turnover, 2010). Shaun and his team act for clients on a range of matters and specialise in three particular areas: London planning, Central area (or town centre) mixed use planning, and Retail planning. The team currently advises on over 3,000,000 sq ft of development in London alone.

Mr Ben Wrighton BA (Hons) DIP TRP PG Cert (Urban Design) MRTPI BCSC  [ E-mail ]

Ben is a Director in the Planning, Development and Regeneration function of the business, focusing on developer and investor clients. Ben’s work involves strategic development advice; planning policy appraisals and strategies; coordination of major planning applications; development / regeneration evaluation & strategy; town centre studies; environmental impact assessment; retail capacity and impact assessment; expert witness—planning inquires, planning obligation negotiation and CIL.

Mr James Cook BA (Hons) Dip TP MRTPI  [ E-mail ]

James provides planning advice on a range of development projects to clients in the private and public sector. He advises on matters including planning appraisals and strategy, policy formulation and submitting/progressing planning applications/appeals to determination. James is currently advising developers and investors on proposals in the retail, office and residential sectors as well as a number of mixed use developments.

Miss Jennie Bean BSc (Hons) RTPI  [ E-mail ]

Jennie plays a key role within the team at the London office and is responsible for major projects for blue-chip retailers and leading commercial developers. Jennie is the principal point of contact for clients with household names and has more recently advised large scale residential developments. She has appeared as an expert witness in both inquiries and hearings.

Paul leads the Operator and Occupier Team which focuses on higher volume clients with a national mandate where standardised business is key. He has experience working for a diverse range of predominantly private sector clients.

Nick specialises in housing, strategic planning and urban regeneration. His experience includes advising on strategic and spatial planning, planning for housing provision, infrastructure planning and advice on delivery and funding options for delivering masterplans and regeneration schemes.

Mr Nick Diment BSc (Hons) Estate management, MPhil Environmental Planning  [ E-mail ]

Nick advises on a wide range of planning and development consultancy related work, with a particular focus upon mixed use, retail and leisure development. He acts on behalf of a variety of private and public sector clients advising on retail led development strategies both in and out of town, formulation of planning strategies and policy advice, overseeing portfolio and asset management reviews, progressing redevelopment schemes and providing expert witness advice.

Mr Michael Lee-Wright BTP Southwark University (1981)  [ E-mail ]

Michael joined the Planning Department of GL Hearn in early 1994 to specialise in sensitive and complex development projects. He previously worked for four years in an environmental consultancy, coordinating Environmental teams and Environmental Assessments. His earlier experience has involved a wide range of policy generation and development planning for commercial and residential projects nationwide, as well as 12 years Local Authority work in both policy and implementation. Michael now leads our National Environmental Planning Service from the Group’s Bristol Office.

Mr Stuart Baillie MA (Hons) Town Planning   [ E-mail ]

Stuart is a planning and development professional with more than 15 years’ experience working in the public and private sectors. He is a specialist in planning and regeneration and has led on variety of major development projects, regeneration strategies and site specific planning and development briefs. Stuart co-ordinates multi-disciplinary teams on strategic planning projects and complex planning applications across the UK. He is also an experienced public sector client side project coordinator on a variety of strategic advisory projects, masterplans and frameworks. Stuart has comprehensive knowledge of the planning system, regeneration funding mechanisms, stakeholder engagement and public consultation.

Alex joined GL Hearn in January 2014 and is Director within the Investor & Developer team where he advises on matters including planning appraisals, strategy and submitting and progressing planning applications and appeals to determination. Alex is currently advising on development proposals primarily in central London in the residential and commercial sectors with this including a number of large scale mixed use developments where he has gained a specialism in advising on tall buildings and heritage assets.
