Nigel McGurk

Nigel McGurk is a passionate, dedicated land and planning professional, with a successful track record of delivery across the UK's public, private & partnership sectors since 1990.

Highly experienced, Nigel worked in UK local government, has been a Board Member of national development companies, was the Managing Director of a major development PLC and created a successful national strategic land business, before selling his shareholding to establish Erimax - Land, Planning & Communities in 2011.

Nigel has experience as a Planning Inspector, determining planning appeals for the Planning Inspectorate across the country. He is one of England's foremost Neighbourhood Planning advisors, having been one of the first Independent Examiners in the country (chairing the country's first Neighbourhood Plan Hearing at Thame). Nigel has since completed several Neighbourhood Plan Examinations across the country; has helped produce Neighbourhood Plans and has trained members of the public, private and community sectors.

Other roles include being a member of the Oxford Design Review Panel; a Built Environment Expert for Design Council CABE (Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment); Vice Chair of Places Matter! (North West Design Review) and a longstanding member of CABE's National Panel; Head of Planning for the Blenheim Estate; Non-Executive Director of Himor Group; and a member of the Wesleyan Assurance MSS Fund Monitoring Committee.

Nigel has been a chartered town planner (MRTPI) since 1994. He holds an MBA from Manchester Business School and is a Master of Civic Design (MCD, University of Liverpool). He has a BSC (Hons) degree in Geography, from the University of Birmingham.
