Ms Karen Blair

Karen Blair is a graduate of the University of Essex (LLB English and French Law), Université Jean Moulins, Lyons (Diploma in French Law), University of Cambridge (LLM, International Law) and Queen's University (CPLS). Karen has been a Partner since 2001, Managing Partner since 2009 and Managing Director since incorporation on 1 November 2011.

Karen specialises in planning and environmental law, liquor licensing and public law and her wide experience in these legal fields allows clients to obtain proactive, practical advice on often complex legal queries. Karen is Legal Associate and active member of the local Branch Executive Committee of the Royal Town Planning Institute and she is a founding member and former Secretary, Treasurer and Chair of the Environmental and Planning Law Association for Northern Ireland. She has recently been elected to the Council of the UK Environmental Law Association ('UKELA') .

Karen also sit on the Northern Ireland board of the CBI the UK's premier business lobbying organisation, providing a voice for employers at a national and international level

*Lead adviser to George Best Belfast City Airport in respect of its proposal to vary its Planning Agreement.

*Lead adviser to Titanic Quarter Limited in respect of its various planning applications for its mixed use development schemes in the old Belfast ship works site, including the site for the Public Records Office for Northern Ireland, Belfast Metropolitan College and the Titanic Belfast, the Tourist and exhibition facility opened in April 2012.

*Advising the National Trust on its successful planning application for a new Visitors Centre at the Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland’s only World Heritage Site, which opened in July 2012.

*Advising AES Kilroot Power Limited on planning, environmental and regulatory issues arising from the operation of Kilroot Power Station.

*Advising Scottish Widows Investment Partnership on the planning and environmental aspects arising from their acquisition in late 2013 of an investment site in Newry, Co Down, leased to Tesco Stores for a sum in excess of £30 million, the biggest investment property deal in Northern Ireland in 2013.
