I founded the Practice in 1983. Now, in the main, I supervise major commissions. Amongst other things, I appear as expert witness at Public Local Inquiries relating to major planning proposals as well as the preparation of development plans, and regularly participate at Examinations in Public. I am also a specialist in proposals relating to ‘Spanish polytunnels’ and associated aspects of soft fruit growing in the UK. Planning is my passion, and I like to keep fully up to date with the latest development practices, as well as being involved in many community and business groups - I’m Past President of the (then) Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Past Chairman of the Environment Committee and Newark Civic Trust. I’m currently on the Board of Nottingham Express Transit. I am a fully accredited member of the RTPI and a member of the TCPA.
I started out as a Local Government Planning Officer and then worked for several major house building companies as Land Manager and Strategic Planning Advisor before joining the Practice in 1996. With over 20 years’ experience of both public and private sectors, I boast valuable insights into the workings of Local Authority, pressure groups and the development industry. As such, I am the company’s ‘go-to guy’ for local plan site promotion work, Development Control outsourcing from local authorities and major housing developments. I am a fully accredited member of the RTPI.
I have 10 years’ experience in town planning, half of which have been gained in the public sector and the remainder in private consultancy. My experience extends across different planning sectors. Prior to joining Aspbury Planning, I worked in local government as a Development Control Officer and, subsequent to that, in Planning Policy. I have experience in a range of projects including Local Plan promotions, large residential developments, energy from waste facilities and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) development. I have been a fully accredited member of the RTPI since 2007.
