I founded the Practice in 1983. Now, in the main, I supervise major commissions. Amongst other things, I have appeared as an expert witness at Public Local Inquiries relating to major planning proposals and the preparation of development plans and at examinations in public into regional planning guidance. I also advise our variety of corporate clients on the feasibility of development projects. As a result, I’m conversant with the latest commercial development practices and with a range of funding arrangements for development including private finance and public sources, such as grants. I am Past President of the (now Derbyshire and) Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, having been Past Chairman of the Environment Committee and Newark Civic Trust. I’m currently on the Board of Nottingham Development Enterprise (NDE) and Nottingham Express Transit.
I started as a Local Government Planning Officer, moved on to work for three major house building companies as a Land Manager and Strategic Planning Advisor before joining the Practice in 1996. With 20 years’ experience of both public and private sectors, I offer an informed insight into the workings of Local Authority, pressure groups and the development industry. Amongst my wide-ranging commissions, I am heavily involved in local plan site promotion work for private clients, Development Control outsourcing from local authorities, and advising farming clients as part of the company’s planning panel status with the National Farmers Union. I am also a fully accredited member of the RTPI.
I have nearly 20 years' experience in Local Government, having worked in Development Control since 1994 and held a Principal Planner's role since 2004. I joined the Practice in 2006. Since then, I have had considerable involvement in most types of planning applications, appeals and major development schemes for residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and retail uses. My background ensures that I am fully conversant with development processes, ranging from feasibility schemes, the preparation of Design & Access Statements and other supporting statements, and Section 106 negotiations through to appeal procedures. I have been a fully accredited member of the RTPI since 1996.
I joined Antony Aspbury Associates in 2008. Prior to that, I gained over five years’ Local Authority experience in Development Control and also worked in the private sector for a major house builder. With this background, I have substantial knowledge of the planning system and a sound practical working understanding of the planning process. I have been involved in all types of applications and planning appeals in addition to working on major developments that require Environmental Impact Assessments, Section 106 negotiations and specialist supporting statements. I have been a fully accredited member of the RTPI since 2004.
