Mr Alastair Crowdy MRTPI [ E-mail ]
Planning & Development Director and Head of Planning at GL Hearn.
Alastair joined GL Hearn in 2006, having previously been the Head of the Planning and Environment Department at Cushman & Wakefield. Alastair Crowdy leads the team specialising in strategic development projects throughout the UK.
Alastair acts on behalf of both private and public sector clients, whom he advises on land-use strategies regeneration and strategic planning. He has appeared as an expert witness on several occasions.
Mr Mike Baker MRTPI MRICS [ E-mail ]
Mike is based in our Manchester office. He joined GL Hearn in 1987 having previously worked in private practice since 1982. His consultancy responsibilities extend to all types of planning and development issues but in particular residential, retail, industrial and leisure schemes.
During his career, Mike has given expert evidence at many Local Plan and Planning Appeal/Call-In Inquiries. He has also regularly been the leader of multi-disciplinary teams involved in developing and negotiating a wide range of projects through the planning process. Mike is also a Valuer with expertise in compulsory purchase and compensation.
In both his planning and development and compensation work, he has acted for a wide range of public and private sector clients.
In 1995, Mike moved from our London office to set up three northern planning offices and now has overall responsibility for the development of planning work within the Northwest and Northeast of England and Scotland. He is also jointly responsible for the management of the Planning and Development division and has recently become a Main Board Director.
Mr Mike Beese MRTPI [ E-mail ]
Mike is a Director in charge of the Bath office of GL Hearn and jointly responsible for the management of the Planning and Development Division. He has been based in the Bath office since joining MWT Planning in 1981 and a Director since 1984.
His professional expertise involving public and private sector experience includes general planning and development advice, planning appraisals, policy formulation, planning applications and appeals concerning all forms of development and land uses, including retail, housing, employment, Health Authority land rationalisation, leisure and town centre service uses. He regularly leads clients multi-disciplinary private sector project teams through the planning and development process.
Mike has specialised in retail and mixed use commercial developments. This has included retail impact, capacity and other shopping studies concerning food and non-food retail developments, planning and environmental statements.
He has prepared and presented evidence at many Planning Appeal/Call-in and EIPs as expert witness, Development Plan Inquiries and EIPs, and made presentations to Committees and at exhibitions.
Mike s project work has occurred throughout the UK, but mostly relates to developments in the South, South West and West Midlands.
Mr David Campbell MRTPI [ E-mail ]
David joined GL Hearn in February 2004 having previously been worked with Development Planning Partnership, where he was responsible for a wide variety of projects. Whilst at DPP his clients included national food and non-food retailers, housing developers and property development companies.
Prior to this David worked in local government as a development control officer. In his experience with two local authorities he dealt with a range of application types, including housing, retail, commercial, industrial, leisure and renewable energy developments. During his time in these positions David gained extensive experience representing the Council at public inquiries and hearings.
