G H Johnston Building Consultants Ltd is an Inverness-based planning and architectural consultancy established in 1977 and providing services to clients across Scotland including landowners, major hotel and resort companies, house builders, commercial construction firms, leading property developers, legal firms and government agencies. Our current projects include developments in Aberdeen,Aviemore, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Grangemouth and Callendar.

We have seventeen staff. Architectural design is provided by RIBA qualified staff, and planning advice by our two RTPI members. This integrated service enables us to provide design solutions to a diverse range of projects in preparation for submission of planning applications. We offer practical design of large construction sites and buildings together with individually tailored planning advice on proposals. This includes preparing master plans of significant mixed use, regeneration, housing and industrial sites in conjunction with other appropriate professional disciplines.

We also undertake listed building conversions and extensions, and new buildings in conservation areas. Our two former local authority planners bring extensive experience to our planning service notably in the representation of clients on local development plan submissions and through the consultation process to Public Local Inquiry stages.

As a modern forward thinking practice, we embrace the latest advice and guidance on sustainable design practice. This includes identifying and using locally sourced materials,and both passive and embodied energy systems in building design.
